Simply Accounting Basic - Course Outline
We offer customized one-on-one training for this software package. This outline indicates the topics covered in a typical one day programme. LESSON ONE - GETTING STARTED
- Provide an overview of the course and topics to be covered
- Describe how SIMPLY works and how you get around in the program
- Go through the SIMPLY menu bar. Discuss functions and what they do
- Exiting file and re-opening file
- Set up a "new company" using selected template from SIMPLY
- Looking up company information
- Discuss system settings
- Discuss linked accounts - how to link and unlink
- Add to and edit Chart of Accounts to "personalize" for end-user
- Add "credit card payable" account
- How to back up and restore a file
- How to set up reports and forms
- How to find and print vendor / customer lists
- Show password / security settings
LESSON TWO - ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
- Add vendors, set up defaults (also show "quick add")
- Discuss PST in general (can be covered in detail if required)
- Enter payable invoice
- Pay the payable invoice by cheque, credit card, debit card
- How to correct errors
- How to print the A/P listing and what it means (compare back to trial balance)
- How to use the "Daily Business Manager" and "checklist" (in the "view" menu bar)
- How to handle discounts
- How to run a "cheque run" instead of paying individually
- How to enter Accounts Payable History
LESSON THREE - ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
- Add customers, set up defaults (also show "quick add")
- How to enter a customer deposit
- How to use up the deposit when sales are completed.
- Entering receivable invoices
- Entering payments made by customer's cheques
- Discuss "deposit clearing account" - desirability / disadvantage
- How to enter Accounts Receivable History
- Set up credit card receivable account(s) IF client will accept payments by credit card
- Entering cash sales, credit card payments
- How to correct errors
- How to print A/R listing and what it means
- How to print A/R statements (e-mail, print, or by preference)
LESSON FOUR - MISCELLANEOUS PAYMENTS AND TRANSACTIONS
- How to make miscellaneous payments
- Why to make miscellaneous payments
- How to enter miscellaneous transactions
- How to make Bank account transfers
- How to use recurring transactions
- How to make "other payments" through payments window
LESSON FIVE - MAINTENANCE
- Warning regarding "clear data" option
- Discuss "compact data base" options
- Discuss removing old vendors, employees, customers - how and when
- Roll forward to a new year - how and when
